Phra Kring

Usually Phra Grings amulets have the form of a small Buddha statue. They are hollow inside, and inside they have a small ball (the Gring) of stone or metal. The Gring produces a softly ringing when the amulet is easily shaken. Phra Grings are mostly created out of sacred metals, as well as silver and gold. However, there are rare exceptions in which the Phra Grings consists of sacred ingredients.
There are numerous temples issuing Phra Grings amulets, but for collectors amulets from Wat Bowon, Sothon Wat, Wat Suthat, Wat Rai Khing and Wat Po Chai are significant. Among the monks there are especially Luang Pho Koon, Luang Pho Pian and Luang Phu Kalong to be pointed out. |
