The statue was poured on the holy ground of the Wat Gernkathin, today this only happens seldom. Luang Pho Pian created the statue from holy metals in a small series of only 999 pieces on the occasion of the Kathin ceremony in the year B.E. 2550 (2007). He consecrated them during 3 months twice daily (in the morning and in the evening). In Wat Traimit there is the 3.50-metre-high and approx. 700 year-old Golden Sukhothai Buddha, a Buddha statue which exists of 5.5 tonnes of pure gold. Its material value is estimated at approx. 60 million euros! | |
