birthday amulets

birthday amulets

images/categories/29.jpg

Here you find birthday amulets, differing in date, colour and Buddha's representation.

Because after the Buddhist colour apprenticeship a colour is assigned to every day, there are also amulets which reflect the respective weekday colour. Still till the 70s many Thais on the weekday of their birth wore at least a garment in the colour assigned to the weekday. For example, the colour yellow is assigned to Monday. His majesty, king Bhumibol, was born on Monday. That's why his coat of arms flag is yellow, and, therefore, Thais wear a yellow Polo shirt or T-shirt on the feasts which are dedicated to the king.

Moreover there are the weekday Buddhas, for emxample, to every weekday a Buddha's statue or Buddha's representation is assigned which shows Buddha in a specific position (Mudra). For example, the reclining Buddha is assigned to Tuesday.
