Thai Monk statues
 |
In addition to Buddha and god statues, Thai temples also manufacture statues of their famous abbots or monks who already past away, such as Luang Pho Toh, Luang Phu Thuad and Chao Khun Nor. These are called Phra Bucha, which means worship statue. Of famous monks like Luang Pho Khun, Luang Pho Pian, Phu Luang Hong and Luang Phu Kalong exceptionally beautiful and highly detailed statues have been created. For worshippers and collectors particularly limited and / or numbered statues are highly demanded series. Often, only a few hundred statues are made and are sold out in that moment, although the price for a statue sometimes is about one or more monthly pay cheque of a Thai employee. Monk statues are also considered to be Thai amulets. |
