Very rare original photo (Ruup Thai) Thai amulet from the venerable Luang Phu Waen Surjinangno, in the lifetime abbot of Wat Doi Mae Pang, Tambon Mae Pang, Amphoe Prao, Changwat Chiang May, north Thailand, from the 16.1.1959 (B.E.2502).
The amulet was published on the occasion of the 72nd birthday of the venerable Luang Phu Waen in the 16.1.1959. The amulet shows the venerable Luang Phu Waen with the stroke „Luang Phu Waen Wat Doi Mae Pang“. At the back there is his Yahn. The amulet was removed some years ago from the old defective glass version and put in a handmade and watertight version. Height approx. 4.1 cm, width approx. 3.1 cm and thickness approx. 0.7 cm.
Luang Phu Waen was born in the year of the pig, on Sunday, the 16.1.2430 (1887) in the Ban Nong Boon, Tambon Na Poong, Amphoe Mueang, Changwat Loei, north Siam.
He was the second child of the married couples Mr. Sai and Mrs. Kaew Ramsiri. At the age of 9 years, in the year of the monkey B.E.2439 (1896) he ordained in Wat Pochai, Ban Na Poong, Tambon Na Poong, Amphoer Mueang, Changwat Loei, north Siam, to novice (Buat Naen).
In the year of the monkey, B.E. 2451 (1908) he ordained in Wat Srang Konok, Amphoe Hua Tapan, Changwat Ubon Ratchathani, to monk. Some months after his ordination he came along as a Phra Thudong (forest- and wanderings monk) for 10 years of durable wanderings.
During his wanderings he also got to know the venerable Phra Ajahn Mun and his teacher, the venerable Phra Ajahn Sao, whom he accompanied for a while on their wanderings.
After 10 years of wanderings in the year of the horse B.E. 2461 (1918), his way led him first back in the native country Wat. 3 years later, in the year of the cock B.E.2464 (1921), he asked for admission in Wat Bowon, Bangkok where he spent the next 10 years.
Only in the year of the goat B.E. 2474 (1931) he moved again in the north, this time after Chiang May where he spent the next 24 years in Wat Doi Mae Pang. From 1955 (B.E. 2498) till 1962 (B.E.2505) he stayed in Wat Ban Pong, Amphoe Mae Taeng, Changwat Chiang May, north Thailand.
From there he returned to Wat Doi Mae Pang where he assumed the office of the abbot which he held up to his passing away on the 2.7.2528 (1985).
Luang Phu Waen passed at the age of 98 years and 78 Phansa as a monk, in the year of the bull, on Tuesday, the 2.7.2528 (1985) at 21:57 o'clock local times in the Maharat Nakhon Chiang May hospital.
